FAQ
In order to better serve you, we’ve compiled answers to some of the most common questions prospective students ask about admission to Lakeview College of Nursing.
Is your program accredited?
Yes. Lakeview College of Nursing is state-approved and holds both regional and national accreditation. Detailed information about our accreditations can be found on the Accreditations section of our website.
What does "2+2 BSN" mean?
Lakeview’s BSN program is a 2+2 model, meaning students complete general education and prerequisite coursework elsewhere, then transfer to Lakeview for the final two years of professional nursing coursework.
Where do I complete my prerequisites?
Prerequisites may be completed at a community college or accredited university of your choice before transferring to Lakeview.
Will my credits transfer?
Most prerequisite coursework transfers smoothly from accredited institutions. Our admissions team reviews transcripts individually to confirm eligibility.
Can I transfer from an ADN program into the BSN program?
Students currently enrolled in ADN programs should contact our admissions team for individualized guidance.
Why choose a 2+2 BSN instead of starting in an ADN program?
The 2+2 pathway allows students to enter the workforce with a BSN, which is increasingly preferred by employers, supports long-term career mobility, and avoids the need to return to school later for RN-to-BSN completion.
Why do employers prefer BSN-prepared nurses?
Many healthcare employers value BSN-prepared nurses for their education in leadership, evidence-based practice, and critical thinking. Additionally, hospitals pursuing or maintaining Magnet® designation often prioritize a higher percentage of BSN-prepared nurses. Earning a BSN can enhance job opportunities and support long-term career advancement.
Is a BSN worth it?
When considering value, students should look at total time to degree, career mobility, support, and preparation—not just the first step.
I’d like to take Chemistry at Lakeview. Can I take it while enrolled in nursing courses?
Chemistry must be completed prior to beginning nursing coursework.
You may apply for admission while still completing prerequisite coursework; however, all prerequisites must be finished before the start of nursing courses. Applicants will not be fully admitted unless they have a clear and feasible plan to complete all preliminary coursework before the nursing program begins.
Lakeview does offer an option to complete Chemistry as a Non-Degree Seeking Student. Credits earned through this option do count toward the BSN degree at Lakeview. Please be aware that financial aid is limited for non-degree seeking students, as federal and state grants and loans are typically available only to degree-seeking students.
Do you accept international students?
All applicants must have established legal residency in the United States. Lakeview College of Nursing does not issue I-20 forms for student visas.
Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen or a permanent U.S. resident. Documentation is required at the time of application. Acceptable documentation for individuals born outside the United States includes a naturalization certificate or permanent resident (green) card.
How does Lakeview deal with international transcripts?
Applicants who have attended a college or university outside of the United States must have their transcripts and academic credentials:
Translated into English
Converted to U.S. letter grades
Accompanied by course descriptions
Evaluated by a recognized credential evaluation agency
All translation and evaluation services are the responsibility of the applicant and must be completed prior to admission review.
