Tyranny Davis of Champaign, IL, Receives First Sigma Chapter Scholarship

The Alpha Alpha Delta Chapter of Sigma at Lakeview College of Nursing (LCN) recently awarded Tyranny Davis of Champaign, IL, with its first scholarship award. Davis was awarded a $500 scholarship for professional development during LCN's spring commencement ceremony.

The new scholarship was named in honor of a founding Sigma board member, Carolyn Rauch. Rauch served as vice president as LCN transitioned from a developing honor society to the current Alpha Alpha Delta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International.

"I served significant time in clinical bedside nursing and management, as well as nursing education. The Sigma values were reliable guides in my career," said Rauch, who has over 57 years of experience in nursing practice.

Rauch added, "Congratulations to the recipient of this scholarship. It means you demonstrate the qualities revered by Sigma Theta Tau International...The use of these scholarship funds should be a beginning of lifelong learning. My hope is that your journey will continue with not only excellence, but also dedication. The torch is yours to carry in this generation. Congratulations! "

Rita Wallace of Marshall, IL, who is an associate professor at LCN, presented the scholarship.

Lakeview College of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. It is a single-purpose, private institution that has specialized in nursing education in the Danville, IL area since 1894.
