A message from the Dean of Nursing
Dear Nursing Students,
Welcome to Lakeview College of Nursing! It is my sincere pleasure to welcome you into a profession that is both deeply rewarding and profoundly impactful. As you begin—or continue—your journey in nursing education, know that you are joining a community grounded in the core values of Adaptability, Caring, Excellence, Integrity, and Service.
Florence Nightingale once said, “Let us never consider ourselves finished nurses… we must be learning all of our lives.”
These powerful words reflect not only the nature of the nursing profession but also the expectations we hold for ourselves and for each of you at Lakeview. Nursing requires flexibility, critical thinking, ethical practice, and a heart for others. Our program is committed to developing nurses who lead with compassion, serve with purpose, and uphold the highest standards of professionalism and clinical excellence.
The Student Handbook is an essential resource during your time at Lakeview College of Nursing. It serves as your guide to understanding the structure, expectations, and values of our nursing program. Inside, you will find important information regarding academic standards, clinical policies, student rights and responsibilities, support services, safety procedures, and more. These policies are not just rules—they are designed to protect your safety, support your learning, and ensure fairness and consistency across the program. By becoming familiar with the handbook, you are taking responsibility for your success and demonstrating your commitment to Integrity and Excellence.
As a future nurse, being Adaptable and Caring are key aspects of your professional development. Service prepares you to care selflessly for others, advocate for those in need, and make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals and communities. It is a privilege to serve as your Dean, and I am committed to fostering a culture where you feel challenged, supported, and empowered.
Our dedicated faculty and staff are here to walk alongside you—offering mentorship, guidance, and encouragement. We believe in your potential and are proud to support your journey into one of the most meaningful and trusted professions in the world. Thank you for choosing Lakeview College of Nursing. We are honored to be a part of your story and look forward to seeing the impact you will make—both now and in the years to come.
With warm regards,
Dr. Gina Brassard, EdD, MSN, RN, RAC-CT, Restorative Nurse
