Outstanding Alumni

Nominate by March 1 for the 2024 award.

Outstanding Alumni Award nominations are accepted year-round. Those received by March 1, 2024, will be reviewed for the 2024 Outstanding Award; those received after March 1 will be reviewed for the following year.

The Outstanding Alumni Award will be presented at the May Commencement Ceremony.

Outstanding Alumni

The Outstanding Alumni Award is presented to graduates of Lakeview College of Nursing, including Danville Training School, Lakeview Hospital School of Nursing, Lakeview Memorial School of Nursing, or Lakeview Medical Center School of Nursing, who have demonstrated outstanding qualities in leadership, professionalism, nursing research or education, nursing administration, or have provided contributions to research service to humanity. The recipient must have distinguished themselves in the nursing profession and exemplify the college's core values of adaptability, caring, excellence, integrity, and service. The recipient should also have a continued interest in and support for Lakeview College of Nursing.

A Curriculum Vitae/Resume and at least one letter of support are required in addition to the nomination.

Nominees must possess at least four (4) of the criteria:

• Leadership - Recognized as an outstanding leader by colleagues. Has served as a leader in facilitating the growth and development of nurses.
• Professionalism - Has demonstrated a dedication to nursing and outstanding professionalism, and by example, has promoted and elevated the general image of the nursing profession.
• Contributions to Research or Education – Has pursued advanced degrees or certifications, conducted valuable research, published, or mentored nursing students.
• Advocacy and Policy Work – Has been involved in advocacy and healthcare policy to improve the healthcare system and patient outcomes.
• Community – Has been actively involved in participating in community service and making a positive impact on the health and well-being of others.
